Sewing 101

So I got an early birthday present from Ben! This awesome sewing machine and I can't wait to use it.  I want to start with some easy stuff, maybe a skirt for Claire? Where do you get your patterns and what are your favorite things to make? I need to take a class or have my mom or Lisa teach me soon cause I have all these ideas of what I want to do! Bed skirt, quilt, flowers/headbands, skirts, dresses, etc.

Just some fun new pics we took at Grammy Lisa's house:

She loves cats and small animals.

Just get online and google ANYTHING you want to make! Seriously, it is so easy to find step-by-step tutorials on just about anything you want! Have fun!

*I like to do quick projects that I can finish while Eden is napping or after I put her to bed at night. Helps me feel like I'm accomplishing something! :)

I get a lot of tutorials from sewmamasew.com and tipnut.com. Have a blast!! I see so many adorable dresses and skirts for baby girls! I've also fell in love with Jamie Christina's Pretty Ditty Apron. She has a lot of great patterns too. jamiechristina.com

i love grosgrain fabulous

how about orange
little birdie secrets

they usually give pretty good tutes and fun ideas. For basics make it and love it is a good one--olive and S have a fun Lazy day skirt tute that is suuper easy. All you need is some fabric and elastic. Pretty much all sewers have an easy skirt tute though. Oh and Ruffles and stuff sometimes has some good tutorials. Also, you can always give me a shout out...I've made all the pillows in our house, a couple duvet covers, recovered some chairs, dabbled in baby clothes (oliver and s have some cute baby dress ideas...) anyway, those are who I usually get inspiration from. Grosgrain is fabulous at making things from thrift and making them look expensive but she is quite advanced. Ok, i think i've blabbered enough

Congrats on the sewing machine! I love love love doing quilts nothing like the ones Lisa makes I just get cute material on sale and tie mostly but doing the edges with the machine is sooo much easier then I thought it would be!! They are such fun and inexpensive to make small ones for new babies. I also have started throwing around the idea of rag quilts! They look super fun too!

So fun!! Love the pics, Jon of course got very excited when he saw the pic of her and monster :). Very exciting about the sewing machine. I have that on my list of things to get along with a vinyl machine. Hopefully one of these days!
