7 journal weeks

I can't believe so much time has passed since I posted these!  I've been keeping on top of them each week, just forgetting to post them.

To elaborate a little more on this last week:  I had a pretty bad c-section experience with Claire (here) and have wanted to do VBAC ever since.  I searched and researched and found a great doctor who does them and has a high success rate. She was very optimistic about me being successful with it, and I was very excited about it.  But then we found out at the 20 week ultrasound that I have placenta previa, where my placenta is over my cervix, blocking the baby's way out.  This is common when there has been a previous c-section because the placenta attaches to the scar tissue of the incision.  They told me not to worry though and that there was a 95% chance it would move up to where it should be by 32 weeks.  So we continued as normal, just hoping and praying that the placenta would be up where it should be next time.

Well, it was not. Still right over the cervix. So another c-section it is.  I am super bummed, but I know that the second time around will be much better than the first was. For one, it will be scheduled and happen quickly, instead of being preceded by 40 hours of labor.  I find out more on Tuesday when I see my doctor what we will do the next few weeks because most people have to be on bed rest to avoid ANY disruption of the placenta which could cause bleeding (which would be very bad for me and baby and would result in an immediate c-section to get him out).  I have another ultrasound on August 29th (35 weeks) to make a final call on what to do (still hoping it shifts or moves a little).

Anyway--that's the update!  Seeing him in 3D just made me fall in love with him.  I feel more connected to him now and can't wait to meet him.

Wow, I just read Claire's birth story...Oh, man! I'm sure you are really nervous about this c-section! I have had two and didn't think it was a big deal, but I didn't have that crazy clotting thing going on. I hope you have a better doctor and team this time! I loved my doctor, she did both my c-sections. It makes all the difference when you have a good doc. I wish you much luck! Congratulations!!

I'm a follower of your blog - and love watching your family grow. We are also expecting (our 1st is due Oct 4th) so it's been fun to watch your progress and compare it to mine. I also have placenta previa and my 32 week check/ultrasound is tomorrow. I'm so nervous/anxious! I just WANT TO KNOW! I just find it humourous the similiarities we've had in our pregnancies. I wish you luck with the remaining weeks!

Kudos to you for being so diligent with the pregnancy updates with baby #2! Now TAKE IT easy!! My sister in law had placenta previa and had to be on hospital bedrest and it was a good thing she was there because she had "the big bleed", so scary! Luckily mom and baby were ok! So dont over do it!! You'll be in our prayers!
PS: youre adorable

Love the photos! I had a complete previa with my 4th. It was my first csection. It ended up being a surprisingly awesome experience. I hope yours is too. I'm sorry you aren't getting your much desired vbac, though! Hopefully it'll at least be a less traumatic experience. Do be sure to take it easy! I started bleeding at about 29 weeks (which is when they discovered it because it wasn't there previously at 19 weeks). I was immediately put on bed rest. I didn't bleed again until labor started, which happened to be the day of my scheduled csection. So they did an emergency csection about six hours earlier than planned. Luckily the bleeding wasn't severe like it can get. It's stressful. I hope things go by smoothly & you are able to have a healing csection birth:-)

Oh I'm so sorry about the c-section! To be honest, I have put off trying for another baby for that exact same reason. I'm still a little traumatized... That being said, I have heard over and over that the second c-section is not nearly as bad. Probably because most people don't plan on a c-section the first time and the second is scheduled ahead of time. I'm sure everything will go smoothly and painless:)
P.S. You look great!!!

I remember reading about claires delivery, so scary! Glad that you won't have to go through that again and that you can just go in and know you are having a baby that day! That is so exciting, but i'm sorry that you don't get to have a VBAC, that would've been so awesome. good luck, can't wait to see that sweet little boy, he looks SO DARLING already!
